District 7230 Rotarians group photo

The Larchmont & New Rochelle Rotary team participated for the fifth time in the annual Alzheimer’s Association - Westchester County Walk to End Alzheimer’s on October 4th. The Walk’s main purpose is to raise funds and awareness for Alzheimer's care, support and research.

More than 1,900 people from all over the county came to the Valhalla campus of SUNY Westchester Community College on a cool and cloudy afternoon.  This year, there was a noticeable increase in funds raised by Rotary clubs from Westchester and the Bronx.  Our team used emails, Facebook and telephone calls to raise money.  Despite our team's small size, $17,900 has been raised to-date.

A shout-out to Marian White, our top fundraiser with an amazing $11,200.  Our club raised the second most among Westchester Rotary clubs and was ranked #6 nationally. Altogether, the district had raised more than $57,000 to-date, far surpassing last year’s total.

Our team contained seven members who did the walk: Barbara Crane, Dave Biskup, Gil Walton, Lester Nathan, Marion Anderson, Marian White and Mitch Weisburgh.  After various speeches, the team once again walked the mile and three-quarters course around the WCC campus.

The Alzheimer's Association® is the leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer's care, support and research. Its mission is to lead the way to end Alzheimer's and all other dementia — by accelerating global research, driving risk reduction and early detection, and maximizing quality care and support.

Thanks once again go to Westchester Walk Director Esther McCarthy of the Alzheimer’s Association NY Chapter for helping us with fund raising.  Donations can still be made until December 31st at our team’s webpage, click on this link.
