- Washington Today
He mentioned today’s divisions in the Congress, sensationalism created by some of his colleagues and a need to get back to a more rational mindset. He discussed the need for checks and balances and a government which operates more fairly. There needs to be less ego and more cooperation in today’s Congress.
- International Topics
The congressman discussed our damaged relations with Canada, the president’s attempt to acquire Greenland and the Ukraine-Russian War.
- His Seven Years as County Executive
He briefly covered his successful working relationship with Ken Jenkins, who was his deputy and eventual successor as Westchester’s County Executive.
- American History
George concluded with three related topics: Presidents Day, Washington’s army at Valley Forge and Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address.
He opened the floor to questions from the audience. The following topics were covered:
- United Nations and the Board of Peace
- Ukrainians living in the US
- Termination of USAID
- Which Democrat has the vision to lead us
- Unaffordability of housing
Our club thanks Congressman Latimer and all of our guests for making this an enjoyable and successful evening.
