The Rotary Club of Larchmont brought energy, music and community spirit together on March 1st with a vibrant Salsa and Swing celebration in support of the Mamaroneck Community Resource Center.

What began as a vision supported by a district grant has grown into a meaningful partnership focused on opportunity and empowerment. Through this initiative, named Cooking to Grow, Larchmont Rotary is collaborating with the Community Resource Center (CRC) to launch a culinary arts program for youth in Mamaroneck, creating pathways for skill-building, creativity and future career exploration.

The event was filled with joy and connection. District Governor Garrett Capobianco joined in the festivities, and State Senator Shelley Mayer delighted attendees with an impromptu solo salsa performance that brought the crowd to its feet.  State Senator Mayer is pictured with Stanley McCalla, owner of the Fred Astaire Dance Studio of Mamaroneck, clearly enjoying the celebration and spirit of the evening.

The highlights of the night were watching community members come together to learn salsa, laugh and celebrate a shared purpose.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of attendees and supporters, the evening raised over $2,000, in addition to a $1,000 district grant. An additional $2,000 was donated directly to the CRC to further strengthen the culinary arts program. These funds will help provide meaningful resources and hands-on experiences for local youth.

This project reflects the heart of District 7230 in action, clubs identifying community needs, building strong local partnerships and turning ideas into impact. By combining fellowship with service, Larchmont Rotary is helping create opportunities that will nourish both skills and confidence for the next generation.
